Fall 2011 Fashion Week: Christian Siriano

Once again, I packed up and headed to NYC for Christian Siriano's show at the Lincoln Center.  And once again, I was impressed at Christian's designs and showmanship.  Inspired by the black orchid, this was a more somber, subdued collection for him.  The show opened with sheer asymmetric skirts under sharp double-breasted blazers--all in black.  Very modern, a touch gothic.  The looks progressed to suits, sleek cocktail dresses, and petaled skirts and dresses.  Color was introduced, but in moderation--understated mauve and moss.  The show closed with a series of dramatic gowns (in typical Siriano fashion), with a ruffled, tucked ball gown skirt as the final show stopper.

Spring 2011 Fashion Week: New York pt. 1

Since we are in the midst of the Fashion Olympics, aka NewYorkLondonMilanParis FASHION WEEK, I thought it would be apropos to blog about it.  I'll start with New York, where I had the pleasure of attending Christian Siriano's show at the Lincoln Center.

Christian's collection did not disappoint,  featuring a mix of prints and textures that drew from African, Indian, and Chinese cultures.  It began demurely with crisp, white numbers, then transitioned into slinky metallics, oodles of chiffon animal prints, and finished with a magnificent red cloud of crinoline.  These are just a few of my favorite looks.

It should also be noted that the shoes (designed by Christian for Payless) are FAB.  I am going to need to get my hands on the red ones.

You can see more of Christian's collection here.
